Tuesday Tour – Global Connections | State College, PA | Penn State
A recent community event is our focus for our latest Tuesday Tour. Global Connections is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and this past Sunday evening there was a lovely benefit dinner at the Ramada Inn called “Passport on a Plate: A Global Odyssey”. It was co-chaired by State College, PA Mayor Elizabeth Goreham and Penn State President Graham Spanier. All proceeds from the dinner go to Global Connections.
Local artists volunteered their time and talents to decorate 23 round tables that each seat 10 in styles that reflect different countries or regions of the world.
Nyssa Smith (Kissinger, Bigatel & Brower REALTORS) teamed up with Jessica Dolan (Room to Breathe), Allen Baney (Avant Garden) & Lisa Peters (Epic Settlement) to decorate a table (Table 12 – Caribbean). This was a great event and for a great cause.
Global Connections is a community non-profit organization, affiliated with Penn State and the Centre County United Way, with a long-standing tradition of promoting international cultural exchange in Centre County.
The organization is made up of community volunteers whose “mission is to bring people of diverse cultural backgrounds together to foster cross-cultural understanding, create goodwill, and enhance awareness of the wider global community.”
Global Connections works with international students and scholars, and their families at Penn State University; the employees of international companies in Centre County; and recent immigrants.
